# Welcome to EKB

> Meet Automation Anywhere Enterprise Knowledge Base (EKB) - RAG, agents, workflows, automation, and enterprise security & compliance.

**Enterprise Knowledge** is how we refer to the **Automation Anywhere Enterprise Knowledge Base (EKB)** - a single place for your organization to turn documents, data, and systems into answers and actions your teams can trust.

Whether you are exploring AI for the first time or scaling it across departments, EKB is built to feel approachable: start with a **RAG knowledge base** and chat, add **AI Agents** and toolkits, then extend into **workflows and automation** as your use cases mature.

## What you can do with EKB

* **RAG knowledge base** — Bring together documents, files, and connected sources in a **Knowledge Base** that uses **retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)** so answers are grounded in *your* organization’s content—not generic web results.
* **AI chat** — Ask questions and explore ideas in chat that stays tied to your projects and the knowledge your team has approved.
* **AI Agents** — Create agents with clear personalities, memory, and **toolkits** (web search, documents, databases, apps like Microsoft 365 or Jira, and more) so the AI can help complete real tasks—not just reply in a thread.
* **Workflows and automation** — Go beyond one-off chats: design **workflows** and automations that chain steps, actions, and integrations so repeatable processes run reliably across people and systems.
* **Share safely** — Work inside **projects** with controls suited to enterprise teams, so the right people see the right knowledge, agents, and automations.

## Enterprise-grade security & compliance

EKB is built for **enterprise-grade safety**: your data, access, and operations are designed to meet expectations for regulated and security-conscious organizations—not a consumer toy. That includes strong practices around protection of information, how the platform is run and audited, and support for privacy and compliance programs your legal and IT teams already care about.

We maintain **five** externally recognized compliance areas—**HIPAA**, **AICPA SOC 2 Type II**, **ISO 27001**, **GDPR**, and **CCPA**—with more detail on each in **[Security & Compliance](/general/security-compliance)**.

## How EKB is offered

EKB is available as a **cloud** subscription (managed by Automation Anywhere) or as an **On-Premise** deployment in your environment. Each model has its own licensing and operational considerations. ## Who this documentation is for

These docs are written for **people who use and administer EKB**: project owners, power users, and IT or platform admins who configure connectors, security, and rollout. You do not need to be a developer to follow the **Get Started** path; deeper sections cover APIs, SDKs, and advanced setup when you need them.
