# Create Your First AI Agent

> Create a project in EKB and configure your first custom AI Agent with models, toolkits, and prompts.

Use this guide after you are familiar with **[Welcome to EKB](/)**. Here you will create a **project**, then set up a **custom agent** with an LLM, toolkits, and a prompt so you can try it in **Chat**.

## Start a New Project

[Sign in to EKB](https://ai.automationanywhere.com/?signup=true) to get started!

1. Select Create New Project.
2. Enter a name for your Project.
3. Select the Create button.

Your first project is up and running with three built-in chat agents available by default. In the next section you’ll build your first AI Agent just as quickly and easily!

## Create a Custom Agent

The Custom Agents Settings section of the Agents page is where you create and keep your Custom Agents. Below are the instructions to create your own Custom Agent.

1. Select **+ Create Custom Agent**.
2. In the **Agent Name** field, give your Agent a name.
3. Choose one of the many popular LLM models for your Agent to use.
4. Update the **Personality Prompt** to define how your Agent will operate and **save your changes.**
5. Choose one or more **Toolkits** from the Toolkits page on the left navigation menu. *Note that some Toolkits, such as Gmail and Jira require additional configuration details, such as access credentials, to be connected.*
6. After your Toolkits are added and configured, **save your changes** and select **General** to go back to the Agent’s prompt.
7. Update the prompt by typing the ‘**@**’ **symbol**. This opens a menu where you can select a **Tool** from your available **Toolkits** and tell your Agent how to use it.
8. **Save your changes** and go to the Chat page to test your Agent!

Once your AI Agent is running, you can set it as the Default Agent for all Chats on the Agents page.

## Agent Templates

The **Agents** page includes **23 pre-built Agent Templates** organized by executive role — **CFO**, **CPO**, **CLO**, **CHRO**, and **CIO**. Use the filter tabs to browse by category or view all templates at once.

Examples by role:

* **CFO:** Budget Planning Assistant, Invoice Processing Agent, Financial Reporting Assistant
* **CPO:** Spend Analysis Agent, Vendor Onboarding & Due Diligence Agent
* **CLO:** Contract Review AI, NDA Review Agent, Regulatory Compliance Agent
* **CHRO:** Employee Assistant, Resume Ranking Assistant
* **CIO:** Extraction Assistant, IT Ops & Incident Resolution, Cloud Cost Optimizer

To add a template to your project, select it, choose the AI model you want it to use, then click **Create**. Each template includes a pre-configured personality prompt and toolkits — customize both in **General Settings** after creation.

For the full template catalog, deployment steps, and personality prompt guidance, see **[Agent Templates](/agents/agent-templates)**.

> **Enterprise / firewall note:** If your organization restricts traffic, your IT team may need to allowlist EKB’s static egress IP addresses (when EKB connects to your systems) and ensure users can reach EKB over HTTPS. For cloud EKB regions and IPs—and how to validate connectivity—see **[Overview](/offerings/cloud/overview#regional-hosting-and-static-egress-ip-addresses)**.
