What’s changing

Workflows V1 is the original workflow builder in Enterprise Knowledge. It is being deprecated following the launch of Workflows V2 in September 2025, which introduces a redesigned interface, improved performance, and expanded capabilities for building agentic automation workflows. Workflows V1 remains fully functional at this time. No immediate action is required.

What to expect next

1

Now — Announcement

Workflows V1 is announced for deprecation. You can continue using it as normal. No changes to existing workflows are required at this stage.
2

June 1, 2026 — Migration tool available (v2.1.0)

With the v2.1.0 release on June 1, 2026, a migration tool will be available directly in the platform. A call-to-action (CTA) will appear in the Workflows V1 interface allowing you to migrate your existing workflows to V2 in place — without having to rebuild them manually.
3

September 7th, 2026 — Removal

On September 7th, 2026, Workflows V1 will be removed from Enterprise Knowledge. Any workflow that has not been migrated to V2 by this date will stop functioning.
The in-platform migration tool will be available starting June 1, 2026 (v2.1.0). You do not need to take any action before that date. This announcement is provided early so you can plan accordingly.

Impact

Workflows built in V1 will continue to run until the removal date is confirmed. Once removed, any workflow that has not been migrated to V2 will stop functioning.

Not impacted yet

All existing Workflows V1 continue to run normally. No disruption until the removal date is announced.

Action required before removal

Any workflow still on V1 after the removal date will stop functioning. Use the migration tool available June 1, 2026 to move workflows to V2.

Why we’re making this change

Workflows V2 (Workflow Builder v2) was launched in EKB v1.7.0 and represents the future of workflow building in Enterprise Knowledge. It replaces the original interface with a more intuitive, visual builder while expanding what’s possible for agentic automation.

Updated visual interface

A redesigned drag-and-drop canvas makes it easier to build, connect, and configure workflow components without navigating complex menus.

More trigger types

Workflows V2 supports four trigger types: Manual Input, File Upload, Schedule, and Email — enabling a wider range of automation scenarios.

Richer component library

Drag Agents, Tools, Conditions, and Final Outputs directly onto the canvas and link them visually to build multi-step agentic workflows.

Variable passing with @

Pass data between steps using the @ symbol to reference variables, enabling dynamic, connected workflows across components.

Execution debugging

The Executions log lets you inspect every step of a past run — inputs, outputs, and results — making it easier to identify and fix failures.

Version history

Every published workflow saves a version history. You can view previous versions and restore and republish an earlier version at any time.

Frequently asked questions

No. Workflows V1 is fully functional and will remain so until the removal date is confirmed. The migration tool will be available starting June 1, 2026 (v2.1.0). We recommend planning your migration ahead of time but no action is required today.
No. Migration is not automatic. Starting June 1, 2026, a CTA will appear in the Workflows V1 interface that lets you migrate each workflow to V2 in place. You will need to trigger the migration manually and verify the result.
Any workflow still on V1 after the removal date will stop functioning. Agents or automations that depend on those workflows will be affected. We strongly recommend completing migration before the removal date is announced.
The in-platform migration tool is designed to carry over your existing workflow configuration to V2. Once migrated, review the workflow in V2 to confirm all steps, triggers, and settings carried over correctly before decommissioning the V1 version.
Yes, until the removal date is confirmed. If you need to retain V1 workflows for a specific reason, contact your Automation Anywhere account manager as early as possible to discuss your options.
