The Zoho People toolkit lets agents check employees in and out, read attendance entries and reports, look up employees, manage leave types and leave records, run bulk check-in/out, and call custom Zoho People API endpoints. Authentication is per-user OAuth — each user connects their own Zoho account. Add it on the agent Toolkits tab. The first use prompts the user to connect Zoho if they have not already.

Prerequisites

  • Zoho People access for the org the agent should use
  • An agent you can edit
  • Zoho OAuth configured for your organization (admin), including the correct regional accounts URL (for example https://accounts.zoho.in)
  • Users who will chat with the agent must complete the Zoho OAuth connect flow when prompted

Setup

  1. Confirm an admin has configured Zoho OAuth (Client ID, Client Secret, redirect URI, regional accounts URL).
  2. Open the agent → Toolkits → add Zoho People.
  3. Save the agent. In Chat, connect Zoho when prompted.
  4. @-mention Zoho People tools in the personality prompt for attendance and leave tasks.

Employees & leave

Use cases

  • Check an employee in or out from chat
  • Pull attendance reports for a date range
  • Look up an employee and apply leave
  • Extend coverage with a custom API call when a dedicated tool is missing

Tips

  • Employee identity accepts ID or email.
  • Many date fields use dd-MMM-yyyy — match Zoho’s expected format.
  • Regional accounts URL must match the Zoho data center for your org.
  • Access is limited to what the connected Zoho user can do in People.
